I visited HoMie in June 2026 on my walk home from work because I had been wanting to check it out for ages. For some reason I had always imagined it was more of an op shop, but after visiting I realised it is much more of a clothing store, with proceeds supporting young people through a range of community programs. I love that concept and was excited to finally see the space for myself. Getting there was pretty straightforward. It sits on a large main road in a beautiful older style corner building that really stands out amongst the surrounding shops. There is parking around the area, though it can be a bit hit and miss depending on the time of day. Public transport is also an option, though you’ll need to do a little bit of walking from the nearest tram stops and train stations. As I approached, I noticed they had signage out the front explaining their mission and the work they do within the community. I always appreciate organisations being transparent about where money is going and how they support people, and HoMie does a great job of sharing that information.

Heading inside, the space felt completely different to the historic exterior. It was modern, stylish, and really well presented. There are a few steps to enter and then the store opens into a relatively small space with clothing racks lining the walls and display tables throughout the middle. Despite not being a huge store, there was plenty to look through and I spent quite a while browsing all the different designs. The clothing itself was honestly gorgeous. The quality felt fantastic, especially the jumpers, which were incredibly soft. I loved how varied the designs were too. There were pieces that felt bold and creative alongside more simple everyday sets, and it felt like there was something for a lot of different styles and personalities. The overall aesthetic definitely leans towards that Brunswick and inner city Melbourne fashion vibe, which I personally love. I also found the cutest skirt that I am still thinking about, and I really hope it is still there when I can justify buying it.

The accessories were another highlight for me. Their hats were adorable, and there were plenty of smaller items scattered throughout the store that caught my attention. While the prices are definitely higher than what you would expect from a local shop, they are very comparable to many major clothing retailers. Knowing that the money goes back into supporting local young people makes it feel much easier to justify, and I would much rather support something like this when I can. There were quite a few staff members around during my visit and the atmosphere felt really relaxed. Nobody was hovering or making me feel pressured to buy anything. Everyone seemed happy, chatting amongst themselves, helping customers when needed, and creating a really welcoming environment. There was even a small sitting area that added to the community feel of the space.

I left genuinely impressed by what HoMie is doing. It is so much more than just a clothing store in my opinion. The clothing is stylish, the quality is excellent, and the mission behind it is something I will happily support when I’m not part of the struggling youth population. I am already looking forward to going back one day and finally buying that skirt. If you are looking for ethical clothing, want to support a great cause, or simply enjoy discovering local Melbourne businesses doing good things in the community, I highly recommend stopping by and having a look.

Super impressed by the friendly service and hearing more about the great programs they have for youth who’s experienced homelessness or other hardships. Nailing the balance between friendly/attentive but not pushy is a fine line but they did it with ease.

An absolutely incredible store with very passionate and helpful employees. I came in on a recommendation from a friend and was blown away by the availability of different designs, material quality, and diversity of apparel types. Additionally, all of the clothes were extremely soft and comfortable. I ended up walking away with a black jumper and the softest grey sweatpants in the world, and it's all for a great cause! I couldnt recommend more!

Great customer service and clothes quality. good cause which is the cherry on top. highly recomend if you need some new clothes. they went above and beyond to help me out with my order when the sizes didn't fit. have a shirt and a hat from about 5-7 years ago and been wearing them every other day since. highly recomend.
