A social enterprise creating pathways out of homelessness.

HoMie envision’s an Australian society free of homelessness. Our primary mission is to build confidence and job skills for young people to create unique pathways out of homelessness and hardship.

HoMie began with a group of friends talking to people living on the streets. Marcus, Nick and Robbie started to share these stories via their Facebook page, Homelessness in Melbourne and wanted to connect with people experiencing homelessness to give them a platform to be heard and understood.

Three years on, HoMie is now a wholly ethical and sustainable Australian made brand with a flagship store in Fitzroy. The team have bought their vision to life, and is Australia’s first ever retail clothing store to provide brand-new clothing and retail training to young people experiencing homelessness.

100% of profits go towards people experiencing homelessness or hardship through sustaining HoMie’s pathway projects and VIP days.

Twice a year, three interns participate in a six-month program which includes part time, paid on-the-job experience at HoMie’s store and accredited training through KnowledgeSpace to help them successfully complete a Certificate III in Retail Operations. On VIP days, people experiencing homelessness are invited through a partnered service to be our VIP customers, and receive five free items of brand-new clothing to choose at their own discretion, grooming, food/refreshments and a friendly chat with our team of staff and volunteers. Apart from providing clothing, HoMie VIP Shopping Days aim to increase feelings of social connectedness, and also bring our VIPs into contact with the HoMie support network.
