About HoMie

our mission, impact and story

OUR MISSION

HoMie is a Melbourne-based streetwear label and social enterprise.
100% of HoMie’s profits go towards achieving its mission: to support young people affected by homelessness or hardship.

We do this by running two social impact programs:

  1. The HoMie Pathway Alliance, HoMie’s own accredited retail education and employment program for young people (18-25) affected by homelessness or hardship.
    2. HoMie’s VIP Days, where young people are welcomed into our store to shop for free HoMie garments, while enjoying haircuts, beauty services, personal care packs, and lunch with the HoMie team.

OUR IMPACT

Cert III in Business, while also being paid to undertake personal and
professional development classes.

8000+ Hours of Employment

CLOTHING PRODUCTION

WHERE ARE YOUR GARMENTS MADE?

Being an ethically minded business is important to us. HoMie works closely with Maker and Co., a Sydney-based organisation who work solely ethically approved businesses.

HoMie production takes place in the Shandong Province in China- this business is annually audited by SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company. The audit is conducted according to the SMETA Best Practices and SMETA Measurement Criteria, including Labour standards, Health and Safety, Environment and Business Ethics and it is extended to all types of workers at the site.

DO YOU REUSE OR RECYCLE CLOTHING?

Yes! Any remaining seasonal stock from HoMie releases is used as part of HoMie's VIP Days, providing young people affected by homelessness with brand new clothing. We also utilise remaining seasonal garments to produce REBORN garments.

WHAT IS REBORN?

REBORN by HoMie gives clothing a new life by upcycling and repurposing second hand, deadstock or excess garments. Since inception in March 2019, we've saved over 4000 garments from ending up in landfill and turned them into unique one off garments. Thats over a metric TON of textiles!
Late august this year we partnered with a local factory to scale up our impact even more, with the ability now to save up to 20 tonnes of textiles heading to landfill per year!
