HoMie is a streetwear label with a store on Brunswick Street, Melbourne and a social enterprise with two impact programs.
At HoMie, we believe in young people. We value inclusivity, connection, respect, and transparency - just to name a few. As a team, we aim to empower young people to thrive, through our social impact streams, connection and community. To us, a HoMie is a person that looks out for others.
HoMie re-invests 100% of its profits towards achieving its mission - to support young people affected by homelessness or hardship to equip them with the skills, confidence and experiences to be more work-ready and better prepared for their future.
How? We run two programs:
HoMie Pathway Alliance
The first, the HoMie Pathway Alliance - HoMie’s own accredited retail training and education paid internship for young people, aged 16- 25, affected by homelessness or hardship.
In March 2020, in response to the saddening events of COVID-19, HoMie’s Program team, together with the HoMie Board, re-developed the Pathway Alliance program into Retail Ready. As a team, HoMie is working harder than ever to implement this program, and to support young people, but through remote education, retail and professional development training.
HoMie VIP Shopping Days
For HoMie’s VIP Shopping Days, at least 12 times a year, young people affected by homelessness or hardship are welcomed into the store to shop complimentary brand-new HoMie garments, beauty services, plus lunch with the HoMie team.
Apart from clothing, HoMie provides a dignified shopping experience, increased social inclusion, and feelings of connectedness for young Melburnians affected by homelessness or hardship. Also, you just can’t underestimate the importance of a really fun day out for a young person who’s doing it tough.
