HoMie VIP Days - info
HoMie VIP Days
What is the HoMie VIP Day?
Twelve times a year since our first VIP Shopping Day in June 2015, HoMie has closed its doors to the public and invited young people connected through community support services to shop for free at the HoMie Street Store.
Each VIP shopper is welcomed into our store for a day of pampering and fun. Young people select five free items of brand-new HoMie clothing, have access to haircuts and beauty services and enjoy lunch with our friendly team.
Apart from clothing, HoMie facilitates a dignified shopping experience, increased social inclusion, and feeling of connectedness for young people affected by homelessness or hardship.
Each young person attending is a HoMie VIP. This means they are welcomed kindly, treated with respect and provided exceptional customer service.
We hope the VIPs leave HoMie feeling special and supported by HoMie and the community at large. We also hope to introduce the VIP’s to the HoMie community, to create pathways into The HoMie Pathway Alliance Program.
Who does HoMie partner with?
HoMie partners with community service organisations who work with people affected by or experiencing homelessness, housing providers, mental health services, youth justices services, AOD services and a range of different providers who support young people affected by hardship.
When and where are the VIP Days?
HoMie hosts 12 VIP days per year in store between March and November each year. The VIP Days are held on Wednesdays, with the exact date to be confirmed with the service after the VIP Form is complete below. HoMie will contact you to discuss the information you have provided and offer a date for your service.
The HoMie Store is located at 296 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. We also host an annual Rural VIP Day and VIP Pack events when the service cannot attend the VIP Day in our Fitzroy Store.
How many young people come to the VIP Day?
HoMie can host up to 20 young people from your organisation for a VIP Day.
What can the community service partner expect from HoMie?
- HoMie will offer the community service partner a date for the VIP event.
- HoMie will send all relevant information and documentation including a contract for the key contact to complete and an invite for young people attending
- HoMie will find out any special needs of the VIP’s to maximise outcomes for those attending
- HoMie will organise food, staff and clothing to be available on the day to fit the needs of the VIP’s.
- HoMie will ensure all staff are informed about the community service partner and equipped to deliver a meaningful and safe experience.
- HoMie will create a safe and comfortable space for VIP’s and ensure smooth operations on the day to the best of our ability.
What happens after the VIP Day?
The feedback from our Community service partners is extremely important to us. Before the VIP Day, HoMie will send through a feedback form to be completed on behalf of the service. We will take this feedback and use it to communicate our impact to stakeholders, funders and customers. We will also use this feedback to ensure we are providing the best service possible to young people in our community and continue to improve.
Does HoMie run VIP Days outside of Melbourne?
Once a year, HoMie runs a Rural VIP Day outside of Melbourne. In the past, we have partnered with services in Shepparton and Albury/Wodonga to provide young people in those areas with the HoMie VIP experience. We understand that rural areas have high levels of homelessness and are often under resourced. If you are a rural service wishing to be involved, please share your information with us in the feedback form.
VIP Packs
VIP take home packs are for services or young people who cannot make it into our Fitzroy Store due to location, accessibility or other commitments. Take home VIP packs can be made up on the day of your event in store, but these must be organised before the day. Unfortunately we cannot make up VIP packs unless a young person has RSVP’s to the event.
During covid lockdowns, HoMie has provided VIP Packs to services and young people in place of the in store event. We will continue to provide this service as we are impacted by lockdowns.
