OUR MANUFACTURING ETHOS:
Creating safe employment for people affected by hardship is what we do best. It is equally important to us that the people involved in producing our clothing are afforded the same liberties.
Taking steps towards demanding greater transparency, sustainability and safer textile workplaces and practices within the fashion industry is something we are passionate about. We strive to work with manufacturers who also work towards fashion being a force for good through creating safe workplaces.
Working with accredited companies gives HoMie the transparency we require to ensure safe working conditions for the people who produce our garments. All our garments are produced using an ethical end-to-end process.
We are beyond grateful for the recognition HoMie has received through awards, partnerships and publicity, and as a result, it is a priority to address business expansion and future growth.
WHERE ARE YOUR GARMENTS MADE?
Some of our garments are produced locally in Melbourne, manufactured using high quality cotton by the team at Qualitops and printed at Redwood Press. Our accessories (gloves, socks, beanies), are made at LMB Knitwear in Brunswick.
In 2020, the exciting and growing nature of our enterprise has allowed us to look into other suppliers including Maker and Co. Maker and Co. is a Sydney-based organisation who work closely with an ethically approved offshore business, whose manufacturing factory is annually audited by SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company.
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
The audit is conducted according to the SMETA Best Practices and SMETA Measurement Criteria, including Labour standards, Health and Safety, Environment and Business Ethics and it is extended to all types of workers at the site.
WE’RE BEING LOOKED AFTER:
International certification companies will continue to look after our offshore supplier, and our local Australian body, Ethical Clothing Australia (ECA), will audit and certify our HoMie collections produced entirely in Australia.
You can learn more about ECA here.
DO YOU REUSE OR RECYCLE CLOTHING?
Yes! Any leftover stock from previous collections are used for VIP Shopping Days (learn more about them here). Where possible, we also re-use HoMie garments and other materials and pieces sourced from op shops, second hand stores and factory floors, to produce REBORN garments. Find out more here.
